Actalent is hiring for a Sr Scientist in the Thousand Oaks area!Job DescriptionThe ideal candidate for the Sr Scientist position will possess either a PhD degree in organic chemistry or a Master's degree with three years of laboratory experience in complex organic synthesis. This role involves working within a drug process development team, with responsibilities including the independent synthesis of chemical intermediates and process impurities, development of reactions, characterization of reaction profiles and isolated compounds, and involvement in commercial process development activities. The candidate will also be responsible for maintaining an electronic laboratory notebook, participating in group and project meetings, and attending seminars. Collaboration with process and analytical chemists is essential.Responsibilities+ Conduct independent synthesis of chemical intermediates and process impurities.+ Develop and characterize reaction profiles and isolated compounds.+ Engage in commercial process development activities.+ Maintain an electronic laboratory notebook and computer files.+ Participate in group and project meetings and attend seminars.+ Collaborate with process and analytical chemists in a team environment.Essential Skills+ PhD in organic chemistry or Master's degree with 3 years of relevant experience.+ Experience with complex organic synthesis, particularly in pharmaceutical or fine chemical companies.+ Familiarity with standard organic characterization techniques such as HPLC, LC-MS, NMR, and Q-NMR.Additional Skills & Qualifications+ 2 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical or pharmaceutical industry.+ Broad knowledge of organic chemistry reactions and current scientific literature.+ Laboratory skills in synthesis, purification, and characterization of organic small molecules.+ Proficiency in analytical techniques including NMR, HPLC, and Mass Spec.+ Experience in reviewing and interpreting analytical data.+ Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.+ Excellent presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.+ Proficiency in basic software including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.Work EnvironmentThe work environment fosters collaboration among various colleagues in process development, including process chemists and analytical chemists. The candidate will work in a team-oriented setting, utilizing state-of-the-art laboratory equipment and software tools to contribute to the development of pharmaceutical products. The role demands excellent communication skills and the ability to present findings effectively in group settings.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Thousand Oaks, CA.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $45.00 - $48.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
