Concessions Staff

GENERAL PURPOSE: The concessions staff is responsible for operating concession stands during youth sports leagues, tournaments, and other recreational events. This front-line customer service role ensures participants, spectators, and families receive quick, friendly service while maintaining high standards of food safety, cleanliness, and inventory control. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The following duties ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties. Greet customers and take orders accurately in a fast-paced environment Prepare and serve food and beverage items (hot dogs, popcorn, nachos, sodas, candy, bottled water, etc.) Operate cash registers/POS systems, handle cash and card transactions, and balance drawers at end of shift Maintain proper food temperatures, follow all health department guidelines, and hold required food handler certification Keep concession areas clean, organized, and fully stocked throughout each shift Perform opening and closing procedures (setup, inventory counts, cleaning, and securing the stand) Monitor and report low stock levels or equipment issues to the supervisor Provide excellent customer service and resolve minor complaints professionally Assist with special promotions, fundraising events, or themed concession nights Follow all safety protocols, including proper lifting techniques and emergency procedures MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Qualifications & RequirementsMust be at least 16 years old High school diploma or GED (or currently enrolled) Previous customer service or food service experience is a plus Basic math skills and comfort using POS systems Reliable transportation and flexible availability (evenings, weekends, holidays) Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions when required Skills & CompetenciesStrong communication and teamwork skills Positive attitude and ability to stay calm under pressure Attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness Basic computer skills for inventory and sales tracking Physical RequirementsStand for extended periods (up to 6-8 hours) Lift and carry up to 20 lbs (cases of soda, popcorn bags, etc.) Reach, bend, and move quickly in tight spaces Work in warm or cold environments (grills, freezers, outdoor stands) Why Join Our Recreation Program?$50 Park Pass (Golf Course, Pool, Roosevelt Park Zoo, Open Skating) Flexible scheduling around school or other jobs Opportunity to stay active, give back to the community, and build your officiating resume Positive, family-friendly environment focused on fun and development Other duties as assigned and performed as required
