Ready to Start Your Career with the City of Temple?SummaryTelecommunicator, under the general supervision of the Supervisor, services as a liaison and provides vital communications between public and local law enforcement to ensure safety of citizens and police officers. Must have availability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesOperates in conformance with federal, state, and local laws, and department and city policies and proceduresServes as front desk by greeting customers, answering the telephone, directing public to proper law enforcement officialsWorks in fast-paced environment dealing with life-threatening situationsMaintains composure to respond effectively and accurately in stressful situationsResponds to any emergencies encountered in the front lobby as neededReceives, logs, and maintains complaints and requests from citizens concerning non-emergency/emergency requests for Police assistance and enters into Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) systemReceives incoming emergency/non-emergency calls and routes calls accordinglySearches for and retrieves data from CAD, Police records management system, National Crime Information Center (NCIC), and Texas Crime Information Center (TCIC) and distributes data/reports to authorized personnelNotarizes statements and complaintsProcesses monetary transactions and issue receiptsServes as a back-up with monitoring holding cells and Police Department entry ways by live video recordingRecords impounded vehicles and vehicle inventoryCollects found property from community members and submits to the Evidence UnitFollows City policies, procedures, and safety guidelinesPerforms other duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalentTwo (2) years of experience in customer service or related areaDemonstrated proficiency in typing and 10-key as determined by the departmentPass extensive criminal background check and polygraph exam and evaluationPreferred QualificationsExperience in law enforcement officeFamiliar with law enforcement terminologyExperience in dispatching and radio communicationsBilingual in English and SpanishTCOLE Telecommunications OfficerCertifications, Licenses and RegistrationsValid driver's license
