Faculty Practice Manager, Oral Surgery

Job Type: Officer of AdministrationRegular/Temporary: RegularHours Per Week: 35Salary Range: $85,000 - $95,000The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.Position SummaryThe Faculty Practice Manager oversees the administrative operations of the Columbia Dental Faculty Practice for Oral Surgery. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring efficient, compliant, and patient-centered operations across clinical, financial, and personnel functions.ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Chief Practice Director, the Faculty Practice Manager will be responsible for, but not limited to:Faculty Practice OperationsOversee daily faculty practice operations and supervise front-end and support staff.Manage patient flow to ensure timely, efficient, and high-quality service delivery.Manage and monitor provider schedules.Address patient concerns and lead customer service improvement initiatives.Explain patient treatment options, answering patient questions and oversee patient post-op surgery follow ups.Ensure insurance eligibility verification, pre-certification, and pre-authorization of services.Oversee check-in/check-out processes, cash management, and point-of-service collections.Ensure compliance with all internal policies and external regulatory requirements, including infection control and environmental safety.Develop, implement, and enforce operational policies and procedures.Analyze operational data to identify efficiencies and improvement opportunities.Manage facility operations, including equipment assessment, purchasing, and supply ordering.Communicate effectively with patients, guardians, faculty, and staff.Perform other duties as assigned.Human Resources and Finance ManagementDirect, train, and supervise support staff.Ensure appropriate staffing levels to support clinical and operational needs.Assist with recruitment, hiring, onboarding, professional development, and performance management.Schedule dental assistants and reception personnel to ensure adequate coverage.Oversee and process payroll in coordination with institutional policies.Coordinate staff vacations and manage routine leave requests.Initiate disciplinary actions as needed and complete annual performance evaluations.Oversee all billing operations.Monitor requisitioning of supplies, materials, and equipment.Track vendor payments and manage accounts payable.Supervise billing operations, patient statements, and accounts receivable activities.Minimum QualificationsRequires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education, training and experience, plus four years of relevant experience.Preferred QualificationsBilingual a plusExpertise in physician billing and reimbursement.Other RequirementsSupervisory, billing and collection experienceMust have excellent customer service skills in a high-pressure environmentMust be able to interact with all levels of staff and must understand patient confidentialityKnowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook and ExcelMust be highly organized and motivated, excellent interpersonal and communication skills neededAbility to work in a past-paced environment.Equal Opportunity Employer / Disability / VeteranColumbia University is committed to the hiring of qualified local residents.
