This role leads and coordinates production staff, ensures work is executed according to shop drawings and specifications, maintains quality standards, and delivers projects on schedule while promoting a safe, efficient, and professional shop culture.The Foreman is a hands-on leader who balances craftsmanship, productivity, and team development while acting as a key link between project management, engineering, and production. They will be working in concert with our Operations Manager and our Project Manager to ensure all projects are completed on time and in line with the designers expectations.Key ResponsibilitiesProduction & SchedulingSupervise day-to-day millwork fabrication activities across all shop departments (machining, assembly, sanding, finishing coordination, etc.)Execute production schedules to meet project milestones and delivery datesAssign labor based on skill level, workload, and project priorityMonitor production flow and proactively resolve bottlenecks or material issuesQuality ControlEnsure millwork is fabricated per approved shop drawings, specifications, and industry standardsConduct in-process inspections to maintain high-quality craftsmanshipIdentify and correct fabrication errors before they impact schedule or installEnforce consistency in joinery, finishes, hardware installation, and detailingTeam Leadership & TrainingLead, mentor, and develop shop personnel including cabinetmakers, machinists, and apprenticesSet daily expectations and hold team members accountable for performance and workmanshipAssist in onboarding and training new hires on shop processes, machinery, and safetyPromote teamwork, professionalism, and pride in craftsmanshipSafety & Shop StandardsEnforce all OSHA, company safety policies, and equipment operating proceduresMaintain a clean, organized, and efficient shop environment (5S or similar systems)Conduct daily safety walk-throughs and address hazards immediatelyEnsure proper use and maintenance of tools, machinery, and shop equipmentCoordination & CommunicationCollaborate with Project Managers, Estimators, and key stakeholders to clarify scope and resolve production questionsCommunicate production status, labor needs, and potential issues to managementParticipate in production meetings and provide input on sequencing and feasibilityAssist with continuous improvement initiatives and process optimizationMaterials & ResourcesVerify materials are staged, labeled, and ready for productionTrack material usage and minimize wasteCoordinate with purchasing and inventory to ensure availability of required materials and hardwareQualificationsRequired7+ years of experience in custom commercial millwork fabrication2+ years in a leadership or foreman role in a production shop environmentStrong understanding of shop drawings, architectural plans, and specificationsHigh-level knowledge of woodworking machinery, CNC processes, and assembly techniquesProven ability to lead teams and manage multiple priorities under deadlinesPreferredExperience with casework, architectural millwork, and commercial interiorsFamiliarity with LEAN manufacturing or continuous improvement methodsAbility to read and interpret CAD/CAM-generated shop drawingsForklift certification or willingness to obtainSkills & CompetenciesStrong leadership and communication skillsExceptional attention to detail and qualityProblem-solving and decision-making abilityTime management and production planning skillsHands-on craftsmanship mindset with a leadership focusAbility to maintain composure in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environmentPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs regularlyComfortable working in a manufacturing environment with dust, noise, and machineryCapable of safely operating woodworking equipment and power toolsCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive hourly or salaried compensation based on experienceOvertime eligibility (if applicable)Health, dental, and vision insurancePaid time off and holidaysOpportunities for advancement within a growing custom millwork company
