Equipment Operator - Landfill

Equipment OperatorSelect's Equipment Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment such as dozers, loaders, road grader, and excavators, as well as preventive and routine maintenance of equipment. This position communicates with the Operational Manager about daily assignments and provides oversight and technical expertise with equipment operations.
The essential job functions include, but are not limited to:
Ability to work with minimal supervision, performing all duties required to develop short and long site plans.
Ability to read slopes and grades preferred.
Constantly evaluate site for compliance and safety issues.
Perform tasks as directed by Operational Manager.
Conduct basic maintenance on equipment.
Conducting periodic inspections.
Reviewing daily pre and post-trip reports.
Correcting identified deficiencies.
Scheduling and oversight of major repairs.
Maintaining shop and field maintenance equipment including periodic calibration where required.
Identifying and maintaining an inventory of high-use, common maintenance items.

Requirements
Must be over 21 years of age.
Must possess valid driver's license and be eligible to drive a company vehicle according to Select's insurance guidelines.
Must be certified to operate heavy equipment.
Exhibit ability to be a strong team player.
Possess excellent written and verbal skills, as well as excellent interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects in an environment of constantly changing priorities.
Ability to work independently and carry out work assignments to highest quality level.
Ability to trouble-shoot electrical, mechanical, diesel engine problems, as well as hydraulic, pump, and vacuum equipment.

Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience.
Physical Demands and Exposures
Work is regularly performed in outside weather conditions, including rain and extreme cold and heat, near moving mechanical parts; exposure to high wind, ice, snow, wet and/or humid conditions, vibration, and dust is expected.
Exposure to noise levels requiring the use of hearing protection.
Prolonged sitting, standing, walking.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Ability to individually lift: Maximum 50 lbs.
