Traffic Data Collection Technician (Seasonal)

If you're reliable and detail-oriented, please apply today!Key Responsibilities:Accurately install data collection devices in the roadway.Collect count data with precision and attention to detail.Drive to and between multiple work locations using a City vehicle.Required Education and Experience:Graduation from high school or GED equivalent; andMust be at least 18 years of age.Possession of a valid driver's license. New employees establishing resident status in the State of Oregon must obtain an Oregon driver's license within 30 days (ORS 807.020 (1)).Ability to maintain an acceptable driving record throughout employment.Successful completion of a background investigation to the satisfaction of the City.Preferred Qualifications:Demonstrate good written communication skills and perform detailed note taking.Ability to work with minimum supervision.Ability to follow oral, written, and drawn instructions.Establish, maintain, and foster positive and effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.Relate to the public in a positive manner.Work for extended periods of time in various weather conditions including weather extremes.Available Schedule:* Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 6:00 AM - 6:00 PMINCLUDED BENEFITS:* Paid sick leave - one (1) hour accrued for every 30 hours worked.* Access to the City's fully equipped fitness center 24/7Essential Functions of the Position:Accurately install data collection devices in the roadway.Perform testing to ensure equipment is in working order.Work primarily outdoors in Right of Way areas.Drive City vehicle to multiple locations through City to set and retrieve collection devises.Other Functions of the Position:Assist Engineering staff in a variety of daily tasks or special projects.Upholds the values of the organization and has strong customer service orientation.Handles job stress and interact effectively with others in the workplace.Fosters an environment that embraces diversity, integrity, trust, and respect.Is an integral team player, which involves flexibility, cooperation, and communication.Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.Demonstrates regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.Competencies:Team Player- Effective performers are team oriented. They are motivated to maintain a fast pace and continue to produce even in exhausting circumstances.Work Environment & Physical Demands:This position works both outdoors and indoors. Exposure to potentially dangerous traffic environments when conducting field work. The office environment includes exposure to regular office noise and distractions, adequate lighting, and regulated HVAC systems in relation to temperature. Operates automobile to perform City-wide travel. May require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, wetness, weather, temperature and noise extremes, hazardous materials, electric currents, or traffic hazards. May interact with public in course of duties.Minimal physical effort required for work performed in the office; light to moderate physical effort required when moving equipment while conducting field work requiring an ability to move/transport up to 30 pounds as well as stoop, crouch, crawl and kneel to place equipment. Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, depth, textures, sounds, and visual cues or signals.
