This collaborative environment delivers FRESH THINKING, reassuring our customers that they choose the best when they choose to work with the people of Dover Food Retail.Job Title: Associate BuyerLocation: Richmond, VAWhat we are looking for:Manages the complete procurement lifecycle, from identifying strategic, low-cost, and high-quality suppliers to overseeing the purchasing and delivery of goods and materials. This involves preparing RFPs and purchase orders, approving payments, and resolving issues such as shortages and missed deliveries. The role also entails various projects, monitoring supplier compliance with contractual obligations, and supporting the arrival of materials to ensure a smooth production schedule.What you will be responsible for in this role:Learns to issue POs daily in response to various demand signals (Kanban, MRP, Min / Max)Expedite deliveries to ensure on-time delivery of components to the production lineWork with other departments to mitigate impact of changes in lead times and deliveriesMaintain professional company image and supplier relations through daily business communicationsUtilize ERP system to provide data on demand history and usageLearn to issue debit memos to vendors on changes resulting from returned / rejected materialCalculate and maintain optimal inventory levels to support safety stock needed to absorb demand variation while supporting inventory turns objectivesSeasonally adjust purchase volumes to support business objectivesMRO PurchasingAssist with new supplier set upAdditional projects as assignedWhat are the basic qualifications?1-3 years of entry-level purchasing experience or a recent graduate with a bachelor's degree in supply chain, Business Administration, or a similar fieldProficiency with Microsoft Office & ERP systems, AS400 & Oracle preferredAbility to respond to change with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.Strong attention to detail and accuracyEffective communication and people skillsWhat are the preferred qualifications?Six Sigma CertificationAPICS certificationAutomotive or aerospace manufacturing experienceFamiliarity with supply chain management tools and methodologies is an advantageGood business acumen and agility in workingTo be a great fit for the role:Experience in a manufacturing environmentUnderstanding of data analysis.Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.Ability to multi-task competing priorities and projects at the same time.Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.Strong computer skills-including Microsoft suite of products including Power BI.Desire to learn the strategic side of purchasing*
