Job Title:Radiation Control TechnicianIncrease your chances of reaching the interview stage by reading the complete job description and applying promptly.Location:Los Alamos, New Mexico – TA-55 / PF-4 Schedule:4x10s(On-site) Duration:Long-Term Assignment | Strong Extension Potential Pay Rate:$38 – $44/hr Start:Immediate Hire – Interviews Moving Quickly Job Summary As a Radiation Control Technician (RCT), you will perform the full scope of radiation protection support activities in highly dynamic and high-hazard environments. This role supports planning and execution of radiological work, coordination of resources, and resolution of competing priorities while ensuring radiological controls are properly implemented and compliant with regulatory requirements. This position requires a high level of technical proficiency, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently while contributing to a strong safety culture in support of safe and efficient nuclear operations. Key Responsibilities Serve as a technical resource for radiological work planning and execution, including Radiological Work Control Packages (RWCPs) Ensure radiological controls are correctly applied for routine and high-hazard radiological work Perform radiological monitoring, surveillance, and contamination control Coordinate work area resources to support safe and efficient operations Provide technical guidance, leadership, and review to RCT staff as needed Anticipate and resolve radiological safety issues; escalate when appropriate Collaborate with customers, operations, and supervision to resolve operational challenges Maintain strict compliance with 10 CFR 835, DOE orders, and laboratory requirements Support operations that may require rotating shifts, overtime, or weekend coverage Required Qualifications High school diplomaplus 3 yearsof related radiation protection experience Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong tactical decision-making skills in high-risk environments Ability to obtain and maintainDOE Q ClearanceandHRP certification U. xywuqvp S. Citizenship required for clearance eligibility Preferred Qualifications Additional technical training, certifications, or associate degree Experience supporting nuclear or high-hazard radiological facilities Experience mentoring or providing technical guidance to other RCTs Physical Requirements Lift up to 50 lbs. and carry up to 35 lbs.
