Why This Role Matters The Riding Mower Operator plays a critical role in maintaining safe, functional, and visually appealing grounds across industrial, commercial, and public properties. This position ensures that all areas including those not accessible by larger equipment are properly maintained while supporting overall contract performance, safety compliance, and operational efficiency. What You Will Do Grounds Maintenance & Equipment Operation (85%) Operate gasoline- or diesel-powered riding mowers to cut grass and maintain areas inaccessible to larger equipment. Utilize and attach equipment such as cutting decks, graders, plows, rollers, seeders, and other implements (under 2,000 lbs.). Perform routine inspection, lubrication, adjustments, and minor repairs to ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently. Operate tractors and related equipment to move materials, tow trailers, and assist with grounds maintenance activities. Evaluate terrain, weather conditions, and erosion patterns to determine appropriate mowing and maintenance approaches. Maintain grounds across various sites including parks, airports, athletic fields, and commercial or public facilities. Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and immediately report unsafe conditions. Stop work when safety hazards are identified and support overall safety initiatives. Deliver high-quality work while adhering to production schedules, contract requirements, and standard operating procedures. Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and a positive attitude in all interactions. Administrative & Team Support (15%) Follow company policies and standard operating procedures. Maintain required documentation and complete all assigned training. Support efficient use of materials and equipment to minimize waste and control costs. Contribute to a collaborative team environment and support continuous improvement. Uphold company standards related to conduct, ethics, and workplace respect, including support of human rights policies. What You Bring Education & ExperienceHigh School Diploma or GED required. Minimum of three (3) years of experience operating riding mowers and/or similar grounds maintenance equipment. Skills & AbilitiesAbility to obtain and maintain required credentials and background checks (including airport access, if applicable). Strong understanding of safe equipment operation and basic mechanical maintenance. Ability to perform minor repairs (e.g., tightening bolts, replacing small components). Ability to assess terrain and environmental conditions to adjust work approach. Effective communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
